Aladi Aruna College of Liberal Arts and Sciences hosted an awareness program on World Food Wastage
Day on 29 th September 2023 to raise consciousness and promote understanding about the impact of
food wastage on society.
The event commenced with Dr. P. Indirani, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil, delivering a special
address, introducing the concept of food wastage and sensitizing students through audio-visual aids that
showcased vivid representations of food wastage and hunger. She conveyed a powerful message about
the detrimental effects of wasting food and urged students to be mindful, emphasizing the importance
of considering children who don’t have enough to eat.
The students staged a captivating and informative skit that vividly portrayed the consequences of food
wastage, demonstrating responsible and optimal food consumption behaviors. The performance
resonated positively with the fellow students, earning an enthusiastic reception from them.
Dr. V. Muthamilan, Principal, in his vote of thanks expressed gratitude to the faculty members and the
students for orchestrating a much-needed awareness program on the critical issue of food wastage. He
delved into facts about the growth of seeds and food production, urging students to consume food
judiciously and emphasizing the importance of avoiding wastage.
