Aladi Aruna College of Liberal Arts and Sciences observed the festival of Onam
with unwavering enthusiasm and fervor.
The students and staff adorned themselves in traditional ethnic attire to
authentically celebrate Onam. The ambiance was imbued with the essence of the
celebration, as students meticulously crafted beautiful pookolams with fragrant
flowers, creating a captivating atmosphere for the festival.
The Onam celebration commenced with an opening address delivered by Dr. P.
Indirani, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil. During her speech, she
eloquently elucidated the cultural and historical significance of the Onam festival,
providing insights into the customs and traditions associated with its celebration in
Kerala.
Dr. V. Muthamilan, Principal, Aladi Aruna College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
delivered the presidential address, in which he eloquently explained the
significance of commemorating cultural festivals like Onam and upholding age-old
traditions, even in the face of modernization. He further commended the students
for their commendable efforts in creating an immersive and celebratory
atmosphere for the event.
The students showcased a series of vibrant dance performances in traditional attire,
embodying the essence of Onam’s rich culture. Their energetic and skillful
renditions elicited enthusiastic cheers and applause from the audience.
Dr. D. Jones Sudha, Head, Department of English delivered the vote of thanks. She
conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to both the students and the faculty for
orchestrating a splendid event to celebrate Onam. She lauded their commendable
efforts, especially in the context of a limited time frame, and expressed gratitude
for their dedication and hard work.
The event concluded with a rendition of the national anthem.
