The Pongal Celebration at Aladi Aruna College of Liberal Arts and Science on January 12, 2024, was a vibrant and festive event organized by the principal, staff, and students.
The day began with traditional games such as musical chairs, needle and thread, lemon with spoon, breaking the pot, and running races. The Pongal preparation was initiated by Dr. Poongothai Aladi Aruna, Secretary, and prepared by faculty members.
The formal program in the Multipurpose Hall commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by an opening address by R. Santhanamari (I Year B.Sc. Psychology) and a special speech by L. Prince Daniel Raj (I Year B.Com.), highlighting the festival’s significance. Dr. V. Balaji, Chairman, Aladi Aruna Foundation, delivered the Presidential Address, emphasizing the importance of education and holistic student development.
The event also featured cultural performances, including dance and singing, followed by a prize distribution ceremony, where students were awarded for their achievements in various games.
The celebration concluded with a Vote of Thanks by A. Subharani (I Year B.A. English), the National Anthem, and the distribution of Pongal to students and faculty members, making it a memorable occasion that beautifully blended tradition, culture, and community spirit.
