Transforming Lives Through Education
Founded in 2008, the Aladi Aruna Foundation works to promote education and health in rural areas. The foundation focuses on setting up educational institutions and conducting healthcare programs in schools, colleges, and communities. It is dedicated to creating a healthy, educated society where people are intellectually and physically well-equipped to thrive. The foundation is committed to continuing Thiru Aladi Aruna’s vision of social development through education and healthcare, particularly in underserved communities.
The Aladi Aruna Foundation was founded by Dr. Poongothai Aladi Aruna and Dr. V. Balaji to carry on the legacy of Thiru Aladi Aruna. Thiru Aladi Aruna was a visionary leader, a talented writer, speaker, and social activist. He began his political journey at the young age of 14, inspired by the ideologies of Periyar, Anna, and Dr. Kalaignar. He served in the Tamil Nadu Assembly three times, in the Lok Sabha once, and was nominated for the Rajya Sabha. Apart from politics, he strongly believed in the power of education as the key to uplifting marginalized communities in both rural and urban areas.
Thiru Aladi Aruna was the author of seven books, including works in Tamil and English, and created his own weekly magazine, “Ennam,” to raise public awareness on various issues. He also founded the “Aladipatti Vaithilinga Nadar and Pathrakalli Amma Charitable and Educational Trust,” which runs educational institutions benefiting the rural population. One of his most remarkable achievements was the creation of an additional High Court Bench in Madurai, a unique accomplishment in Tamil Nadu. His life was marked by equanimity, perseverance, and integrity, values that continue to inspire the work of the Aladi Aruna Foundation.

With a strong background in vascular surgery and extensive experience in the UK, he brings a global perspective to education and healthcare. His commitment to social engineering through education has been the driving force behind the foundation’s success.
Dr. Samantha Balaji
MD, MRCPH, Clinical Fellow Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine, University of Alberta
As a dedicated pediatrician, Dr. Samantha Balaji focuses on healthcare education and student well-being. Her expertise in neonatal and perinatal medicine adds a multidisciplinary approach to the foundation’s initiatives. She is passionate about preventive healthcare and ensuring that students receive the support they need to thrive.

Our college operates under the approval of the Government of Tamil Nadu as per G.O. Ms. No. 182, ensuring quality education and academic excellence.
Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU), established in 1990 by the Government of Tamil Nadu, serves learners across Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, and Kanyakumari districts. Named after Tamil scholar Prof. P. Sundaram Pillai, the university upholds his legacy in education. Accredited with an ‘A’ Grade by NAAC, MSU oversees 104 affiliated colleges and runs six constituent colleges. Prof. Sundaram Pillai’s poem, Tamil Thaai Vazhthu, is the official state song of Tamil Nadu.
